Self-care is using strategies to help you deal with stress in a proactive way. Self-care is caring for your whole self - physical, mental and emotional and moves you closer to your goals.
Self-comfort is geared more towards easing discomfort than moving towards your goals, and will more than likely keep you exactly where you are. If you keep doing what you have always been doing, you will continue to get the same results. Self indulgent choices done often enough will take you away from your goals instead of moving you forward. When you get out of your comfort zone and take on challenges, progress will be made and change happens. Everyone chooses self-comfort at times, but it's important to know if you make that choice too often, you'll stay right where you are.
An example of the difference between self-care and self-comfort would be going to bed at 9:30pm because you are tired and need to rest, while a self-comfort choice would be staying up later to watch another episode on Netflix because you "want to" ( Guilty!!)
Some self-care choices:
Choosing nutritious foods more often than not
Drinking plenty of water
Turning down an invitation because you need alone time
Going for a walk
Choosing an early night over a night out
Pursuing personal development
Going for annual check ups
seeking help from mental health professionals
